Fort Worth, TX – Coming back from a broken back that kept him out of
last year’s world championships, Andrew Adkison won his second world
title in three years today at the No Fear WWA Wakeboard World
Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. Adkison, from Orlando, Florida,
topped the finals field with a 95.00 to defeat Canada’s Rusty Malinoski
and his fellow American rider Danny Harf.
Adkison, who has been a leading rider all year on the professional
circuit, also won the last world championship to be held in the United
States, two years ago in Orlando, Florida. He says both titles mean
everything to him.
“I think just like in 2004, I’m walking away from the podium
floating. It’s a dream; you just can’t put it into words. Now that it
has happened twice, I’m just blown away,” said Adkison.
On the women’s side, Orlando native Dallas Friday also won her
second world title in three years. And similar to Adkison, she also
came back from a back injury. She re-injured her back last year in the
first round of the worlds and couldn’t continue, but this year
completely healthy, she cruised to the title with a 54.33.

ABILENE, TX — Tigé Boats hosted more than 1,200 people August 26 to a gala celebration showcasing the impressive new Tigé world headquarters and manufacturing facility. Billed as “Tigé…the people, the passion…the PARTY”, the celebration drew Tigé dealers, vendors, owners and other friends from as far away as Europe and Japan. The centerpiece of the event was the state–of–the–art 130,000 square–foot Tigé complex that opened in January 2006. Partygoers were greeted by valet parking at the entrance to the company’s contemporary corporate offices. Following a trademark orange carpet, guests were led on a self–guided tour of Tigé offices and the entire manufacturing complex that covers the length of two football fields. Along the way, posters and Tigé personnel explained the boatbuilding process and the key elements that differentiate Tigé from other boats. The tour ended in the main Tigé assembly building which had been transformed into a stylish party hall complete with video screens, stage and mood lighting throughout the 330–foot building. A video presentation chronicled the history of Tigé , which originated in California in 1991 and moved its headquarters and manufacturing to Abilene, Texas in 1994. Tigé employed 35 Abilene residents in 1995. The Tigé payroll has grown substantially through the years to its current level of more than 225. WAKESTOCK FINALS – BEST EVER!
Toronto Islands, Canada. The Wakestock World Series of Wakeboarding wrapped up in spectacular fashion with one of the most amazing days of riding in wakeboarding history. “This was the highest level of riding I’ve ever witnessed at a WWA World Series”, said WWA Director and Judge, Shannon Starling. “The Malibu Boats Expression Session Super Finals had the massive crowd on their feet cheering every move – it was electrifying!” That was just one of four pro events that concluded on Wakestock’s action packed final day.
There was the Billabong Pro Railslide featuring the world’s largest competition rail course with eight different rails totaling over 300 feet of sliding surface! There was the Oakley Launch Pool Invitational featuring the world’s biggest and most progressive jib pool. There was the Billabong Pro Wakeskate featuring customized, wakeskate specific rails.
In the Malibu Boats Expression Session, the final four riders represented the strongest wakeboarding countries on the planet, with Wakestock defending champ Rusty Malinoski representing Canada; emerging superstar Philip Soven representing the USA; defending WWA World Series overall champ Daniel Watkins representing Australia; and one of the most talented allround riders in the world, Jeff Weatherall representing New Zealand. Malinoski knocked out Watkins and Soven eliminated Weatherall to set up a head to head super showdown. Soven went first and stomped a huge, clean run of some of most difficult wake tricks ever thrown, including a whirly 7, combined with smooth, tech rail slides. Malinoski knew he had to deliver his flawless best, but after two falls simply ran out of course to mount a serious challenge. Soven was crowned the new Wakestock Malibu Boats Expression Session champ winning his first coveted Wakestock WWA gold belt. Malinoski followed, with Weatherall claiming 3rd and Watkins 4th. Danny Harf, Brett Eisenhauer, Keith Lyman and Jack Blodget tied for 5th.

Written By: Zack Clark http://www.WakeboardNorthwest.com
July 22, 2006 brought on early morning clouds that looked to dampen the day. However, the sun scorched through and changed the outlook from poor to perfect in classic Northwest fashion just as the riding was gearing up. The 2nd annual Bakes NWI Double Up comp was ready to kick off. The Northwest was out in force with the likes of Brent Starr, Nick Jones, Bret V, and other top riders vying for the glory of the day’s best rider. Lake Washington was up to its usual tricks, sending out a few extra rollers for the boys to deal with. Defending Bakes NWI champion, Nick Jones, started his day off right sticking a KGB and a solid Heelside 720. Following Jones, Brandon Robins went for a massive Back Mobe that easily could have taken trick of the day. Unfortunately for Robins, he was booted so well by the massive wake kicked out by the Malibu Wakesetter VLX that he over rotated and got an awakening from the floor of water below. Rider after rider took to the water as it became increasingly rough with each minute of the day.
